Day of Reckoning
With the release of the Epstein files, our country (and world) is in the midst of a reckoning. Many are now realizing the absurdity of the question "Why don't victims report?" - because we have seen what happens when they do. And while most perpetrators are serial offenders, our systems are rarely capable of (or interested in) connecting the dots. Therefore, survivors who come forward are often forced to fight for justice alone - sometimes for decades - only to be ignored, dismissed, and retraumatized by the system that's supposed to protect them, while those who harmed them avoid accountability.
But Callisto is changing that.
Callisto is a national nonprofit fighting to end serial sexual assault... one match at a time. Our revolutionary, encrypted Matching System enables survivors to safely find out if others have been harmed by the same person...without forcing them to report or come forward publicly. And on April 24th, the Day of Reckoning, you can help ensure that as many survivors as possible know about and can use Callisto. By joining us on this day, you are shining light into the darkness, so more survivors can find their way out, and so perpetrators can no longer hide.

What is Callisto?
Callisto is a national nonprofit that uses cutting-edge technology to tackle serial sexual assault. Our Matching System is the first of its kind encrypted tool that enables campus survivors to safely and securely find out if their perpetrator has harmed others…without requiring them to report or go public. When survivors enter unique identifiers (phone number, email, or social handles) of the same perpetrator, our system registers a match. After the match is authenticated, each matched survivor is notified and can then meet with a confidential advocate to explore their options — if they want.
By putting control back into survivors’ hands, protecting their privacy, and helping them pursue justice together (if that’s what they want), Callisto gives survivors something powerful and new — an opportunity to regain control and the time and space they need to decide what’s best for them…without risking greater harm.
Who can use Callisto?
Currently, those who have experienced any kind of sexual harm (anywhere, at any time, and by anyone) and have a .edu email from a U.S. college can use Callisto. This includes students, staff, faculty, and some alumni. But that’s not enough. We are working tirelessly to expand. By joining us on April 24th, you can help make that happen!
What is the purpose of this event?
To increase the number of survivors who enter into our Matching System, improving the chances that those who enter will find a match
To help spread the word, so more survivors with access will know Callisto exists
To increase funding in order to expand access to our technology to survivors beyond college campuses
Who should participate?
Survivors with a .edu email who want to find out if their perpetrator has harmed others, whether or not they have (or plan to) file a formal report
Survivors who can’t use Callisto (yet), but want to help us change that
Allies and advocates who believe survivors deserve protection, support, and safe options
Everyone who is tired of hearing people ask, “Why don’t victims report?”
Everyone who is infuriated by how survivors who do report are so frequently failed and retraumatized by our current systems
Everyone who is outraged that, while most perpetrators are repeat offenders, few ever face accountability
How can I participate?
If you are a survivor with access (a .edu email address) you can join us by entering into Matching on April 24th. While technically you can enter any day, doing so on the Day of Reckoning is an opportunity to feel increased solidarity and support. Our team will be available with questions throughout the day and leading up to the event. And entering on a day when so many others across the country will also be entering increases the likelihood of finding a match…sooner. You are not alone. And whether you decide to enter on April 24th, before, after, or never…we support you!
If you are a friend or loved one of a survivor who wants to enter into Matching on 4/24, you can offer additional support on this day. This could include helping them find the social handles (or other unique identifiers) of their perpetrator, as this is often one of the more emotionally challenging parts of the process.
If you are an ally or activist or anyone who believes that more people should know about (and have access to) Callisto, you can participate by spreading the word about this event. Follow us @callisto, then fill out the form below and we’ll send you everything you need to get started, including printable materials, sample social media posts, and more!
If you want to help expand access, you can participate in the Day of Reckoning by donating or fundraising. We are often asked when Callisto will be available to survivors beyond college campuses. We hear, “ALL survivors should have access!” We agree! And we are working tirelessly to expand access to as many survivors as possible. Your support can help make that a reality.
